Don't waste your time on jealousy

"Don't waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you're ahead. Sometimes you're behind. The race is long, and in the end, it's only with yourself" -Mary Schmich

That quote should be the theme for everyone's life. We live in a world that is sometimes overly commercialized with outrageous and narcissistic individuals. I am guilty of such behavior. It's easy to become consumed  when constantly broadcasting, "look at me" on social networks, blogs, twitter. I have them all, love using them too.

But, there is another quote I try to follow, "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice." Pet Peeve: I don't understand why people leave shopping carts in the parking lot, when there is a special area to place them. By not putting the cart away, you're making someone else's job harder. Common courtesy costs nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I think self promotion is wonderful. If you don't believe in yourself first, how can others believe in you? I'm just saying, don't be so caught up in your personal world, that others, get left behind. And just because I do put shopping carts away, doesn't make me the person of the year.

It's all about putting yourself in other people shoes. If part of my job was putting shopping carts away all day, I would really appreciate the people who put them back in their rightful place. As for jealousy, there will always be a lesser or greater person than yourself, and the only time you should look down on people, is if you are helping picking them up.

 Until next time,

My new favorite tote

Bear tote from forever21.com
Simple, classy, and useful are the three words that come to mind when looking at this lovely tote. The handles are not shown in the photo, but trust me, it is a bag and a cute one at that.

I like to think that this dainty, little bear is happy, wearing her pretty, big bow and a pearl necklace. Who or what couldn't feel elegant wearing a set of pearls? Pearls were not just made for us sorority women. Although, I can see why sorority women would feel special wearing some. They can help you feel more polished, poised, and presentable. Triple P!

So what makes you feel special? It could be something tangible, or maybe it's much more deeper than that? Maybe it's the morning sunrise? I have white, sheer curtains in my room, so my room is bright in the morning. Beginning a new day can be special.

So before this day ends, I am going to remember the things that are special to me. So special, they're priceless. Such as, inner beauty, honesty, and perseverance.  This bag inspired me to share with you the special things we can discover in our world.

Until next time,

I Love My Hair

I did not always love my hair. Especially on windy days or even humid days. On windy days it can turn into a lion's mane. On humid days, it can sometimes feel like a swamp on my neck. Gross! Maybe I provided too much information?

Some people have found my hair to be amazing. Like nothing they have ever seen before. Some say it's cool, neat, or cute. Lovely, I can still be cute after the age of 24! Below are some more random questions that people have commonly asked me.

Questions:

1. I have been asked if my hair is real?
2. Did it get a perm?
3. How long does it take to straigten it?
4. Is it soft?

Answers:

1. My hair is real, because it is attached to my head.
2. It is a lot to handle, but it is not a perm.
3. Yes, about an hour and a half.
4. Yes, but it depends on how much hairspray I use.

My hair even has a theme song! How many people can say that?

So if you have curly hair celebrate! If not, it is okay, you can still be Sassy!

A cake that is in a cup

Since October 2010, my sister and I have been making cupcakes monthly. Mostly to celebrate the holidays. Oh heck who am I kidding, it was to satisfy my sweet tooth! I just love how something so small can taste so good!

I choose not to count calories when eating cupcakes. It is not fair to the dessert itself. It served it's purpose to fill me up like a butter cup. Plus, who am I to discriminate a treat with such delight.

Don't you smile when you see a cupcake? Especially the miniature ones. How you can imagine just gobbling them up. I am a cupcake monster that enjoys sprinkles and buttercream icing.

These cupcakes were designed by my twin for Superbowl 2011. We decided to have a Valentine's Day themed party. We combined our love for cupid and football.
Gobble. Gobble. These were made with our niece and nephew. Spice cake with caramel icing and candy corn.
Halloween pumpkin cupcakes.

We get our inspiration from the books: Hello Cupcake and What's New Cupcake. Really great books, easy to follow instructions. I also like that the books show you how-to make house items into baking tools.

Maybe one day if you are ever in my neck of the woods, you can enjoy one of my cakes in a cup!

Philanthropic Obsession

I have an obsession with collecting tabs from tin cans. People have seen me pick them up in parking lots, take them off the drinks they are drinking from, and I have asked complete strangers, "May I have your tab?"

All for a good cause, of course!

Every since my friend Jessica, told me she collected tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, I was hooked. It was simple, easy, and anyone could participate. So why tabs?
The Ronald McDonald House Charities uses these tabs to collect funds for people and patients that stay in the house while receiving medical care.

On the back of every cardboard house that is used to collect tabs you can find the following passage, "Pull For the Ronald McDonald House: Recycled beverage tabs help your local Ronald McDonald House, a 'home away from home' for families of children with serious illnesses who are undergoing treatment at nearby medical facilities."

So put your tabs to better use, instead of throwing them away.

For more information and to find your local Ronald McDonald House please visit the website, Ronald McDonald House Charities
