Optimistic

(credit)
“May the love hidden deep inside your heart find the love waiting in your dreams. May the laughter that you find in your tomorrow wipe away the pain you find in your yesterdays.”

Turning over a new leaf to invite more optimism in life is always a good thing. Things I am optimistic about going into the month of February:

longer workouts
♥ smaller to-do lists
meaningful diary entries
learning new dinner recipes
♥ New Balance running shoes
♥ being more creative (more DIY projects, drawing, coloring, baking)

Until next time,

Be Fashionable
I have started adding feather earrings to my jewelry collection. Currently, I have peacock style, white, brown, and black. As I danced my weekend away, I couldn't wait to wear my recent purchase. I got this pair from Cato.

Have a spa day everyday by taking care of your skin.

Why:
 Softer skin.
 Less breakouts.
Your makeup will go on better.

How: Buy a facial brush. I have a pink one and have noticed a dramatic difference in my skin.

Just dance

(credit)

"Dance...even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them." -Buz Luhrmann

When presented with the opportunity to just let loose, be young, and carefree...count me in! I love to dance because, it is another great way to express yourself. There is no room for worry on the dance floor. This area is for laughs, smiles, and endless bliss. It is a time to appreciate the company you keep and enjoy one of life's sweet treasures.

When words aren't enough...just dance.

Idea

"When you meet someone better than yourself, turn your thoughts to becoming his equal. When you meet someone not as good as you are, look within and examine yourself."
 -Confucious

Do you feel you are experiencing a series of unfortunate events?
Nothing ever goes right and the stars don't align in your favor?

Ask yourself:

Is the glass half-full or half-empty?
What are you grateful for?
Do you manage the company you keep?
What are your strengths?
What can you improve upon?

I am not a psychologist or truly understand the intrigue parts of the human brain. I am however a champion for positivity. Bad things do happen to good people and bad things happen to not so good people. If we truly can not control what happens to us...we can control how it will affect us.

Plan for a life of positivity, hope, and happiness and see how life pays you back.

Until next time,

Time can be wasted, but never recycled

(credit)

"You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it."
 -Charles Roberts Buxton

Where did this month go? Yikes! Already nearing the end of the month and I slightly feel off track, unorganized, and just wandering around aimlessly.

Retaining the momentum I had in the beginning of the year needs a little tweaking. This weekend I plan to realign my to-do list and get back on track.

I was off to a great start this month, but the trick is to finish strong! If you are experiencing this same type of anxiety, hang it there and just take one step at a time.

Until next time,

Simple delights

This week has brought more inspiration and insight about the little things that make me happy. I'm on a happy kick, that I hope becomes contagious though out all aspects of my life. I want to live a life where material things are not a reflection of my happiness. On my simple delights list I have a mix of both tangibles and non-tangibles. Some of these items are enjoyed more with company.

“The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.” -Epictetus

Rainy Days-good time for reflection, relaxation, and great excuse to stay inside.

Afternoon Naps-because nap time should really be for adults and not just for kids.

Ballet Flats-when heels become a fuss, but you still want to feel pretty.

Unexpected Flatteries-receiving a gift when it's not a your birthday, but because some appreciates you.

Coffee-I have had many pleasant experiences and conversations over a cup of joe.

I hope you enjoy all the simple things in your life.

Be spontaneous

(credit)

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

The last time I did something for the first time was a few weekends ago with my hot air balloon ride adventure. Doing something new is exhilarating, fun, and exciting.  I want to enjoy all the little moments in between life's adventures. I never want to dread anything I have to do in my life.

I choose adventure. I choose to never be bored.
I chose to always be happy.

I like to believe I plan for almost everything. This is not realistic. Having a plan would take the fun out of being spontaneous. Being flexible and squeezing in time for fun, should be a relief. Spontaneity can make for fascinating memories.

Until next time,

Up, Up, and Away

Photobucket

I had the opportunity to cross an item off my bucket list.

Ride on a hot air balloon

I would have been able to do this sooner, when I was in high school which was (ah em) years ago. I do not regret that I let this slip through my fingers. Instead, I am more enlighten and appreciate that I was able to do this with a great friend and wonderful sister. A coffee drink, funnel cake, and a giant corn dog later, we waited over two hours for our short-lived experience, but it was worth it!

Life is all about dream living. I found a bucket list, I wrote years ago of things I plan to do before my last day on this precious Earth:
Swim with dolphins
Visit NY and see the Statue of Liberty
See the Eiffel Tower
Have a closet just for my shoes ♥
Touch the ocean
....just to name a few.
From my little adventure, I thought just because I am from a small town, doesn't mean my dreams have to be. "It's not where you come from, it's where you're going." Happy dream living my sassy followers.

Until next time,

Friendly reminder

Note to self: Take a deep breath (sigh) and...

(credit)

In the midst of everything I have to do everyday, sometimes I forget to just be happy. Last week, I was more tired than usual. An awful side effect from thinking too much.  I just need to be happy for the moment, instead of always worrying about the unknown.

We are the main characters in our lives. We must live in the present, worry less about tomorrow. Stop rushing to the next objective and take time to appreciate all the non-tangibles.

I plan to be active in every aspect of my life. Use my planner more as a guide and be more flexible. I hope this week brings you closer to your weekly aspirations. Have a wonderful week!

Don't worry, be happy.

Until next time,

Here's to always being your B.E.S.T!

January 11, 2012

C&A

Challenge: Create positive affirmations. Sometimes we forget to take time to build upon our characters. Sometimes we put aside our health, goals, to-do's, in order to please the masses. How can we expect the best from others, if we do not take time to better ourselves?

(credit)

Action: Commit to this challenge by writing your affirmation on your mirror, post card, sticky note, planner, poster board. Somewhere you will see it everyday. Say it everyday and believe what your saying is true.

Make a commitment to embrace your playful spirit. Don't be afraid of challenges. Never stop believing in your dreams.

Until next time,

Be polite and accept the compliments you receive. Rather than dispute something nice that someone said to you. Be gracious and say thank you. Then compliment the other person genuinely. Enjoy savoring all your sweet flatteries.

A new planner is key to organizing your life. I like this planner because it has a weekly view with plenty of room to write. It is a very basic color, so I write with colorful pens. Choose one that fits your personality and inspires you to use it everyday. This year live your life with a plan and wake up everyday with a purpose.

Design the life you want to live

Four days into the new year.  What do you plan to accomplish? What is your vision for 2012? How do you plan to get there? Here is an idea to keep you on track with your resolutions, goals, and turning your dreams into reality.

Create a Vision Board

(credit)
Start by browsing through old magazines, cut out pictures that relate to your goals. If you want more money, cut out a dollar sign or an individual you feel has accomplished this task. If you want to travel cut out the places you would like to visit and paste them on your vision board. A cork board will do, just have some thumb tags handy.

Now, the pictures serve as a reminder of what you plan to achieve. Make a conscious effort to pursue these ideas everyday. Some of these events can be what you want to accomplish in your lifetime. (Those are okay to put on the board too!)

Always strive to be a better version of yourself.

Until next time,

Sassy Sunday

It is a New Year and I'm welcoming 2012 with open arms. I am also making sure Sassy Sundays become a priority. What you can expect from this year's post: endless amounts of positive energy, enthusiasm, motivation, and inspiration. Writing makes me happy. So, why not make a commitment to do more of what makes me happy?

Be Fashionable
Time to make room for everything you got under the Christmas tree. Now, I know this can be an overwhelming task. Organizing can sometimes be a chore. I recommend turning on music and start with one area at a time. For example, begin with your closet space. Rummage through your clothes and create a pile to donate. You might discover items you have forgotten about. If you are able to see what you have, it will be easier to get ready everyday. Tip: If you haven't worn it in a year, get rid of it.

Embrace Individuality

"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are."
-E.E. Cummings

Stay Classy
Don't drink too much. New Year's is the end of the holiday season and it is also a beginning. Have fun, but know your limit before you start sipping your pretty little drinks.

(credit)
Now, you do!

Treat Yourself to a new workout regime. Make your body a priority for a lifetime. I have already started using my Everlast Cardio Freestanding Striking bag. It's a great workout and stress reliever.

Resolutions are nice to find what you would like to change for the year. However, don't set yourself for failure. Creating small habits are more manageable than trying to conquer everything in one day. If your desire is a healthier, better-looking body, remember it will take time to see such change.

Find what makes you happy, make a plan, and see it through. Every year brings new possibilities and opportunities. Everyday take a small step to find your ultimate happiness.

Until next time,

Here's to always being your B.E.S.T!
